Our Little Team

Tiny but powerful. It’s just the two of us, and we like it that way—it means that we get to spend more time on what we believe in most.

Our mission is to be guides, helping our clients find or re-find true north and chart a path toward it. It’s easy to lose sight of, and we help organizations and communities keep their sights trained on their purpose and vision with impact measurement and storytelling, on-going monitoring, project development and evaluation, targeted research, and proposal writing.

We love working with clients who know who they are and who they aspire to be, even if they aren’t sure how best to achieve it. We help them define true north and navigate each day and each project in connection with that lode star. We are Azimuth.

This is Jay.

Co-founder, Thinker

Jay writes small. It’s almost impossible to read. He thinks small, too—about the intricate details of a project, from research and design to evaluation and results. He cannot help himself.

With a background in education and curriculum design, and with a record helping clients throughout the dissertation research, Jay specializes in research, methods development, and analysis.

His undergraduate degree is in English, too, and he’s an accomplished editor.

He has a 23-day NYTimes crossword streak, and he will be a good tennis player one of these days.

This is

Cathrin.

Co-founder, Visionary

Cathrin doesn’t much care for boxes, or for small writing. Her pen produces only visionary flourishes. The yin to Jay’s yang, she thinks about what if, guiding Jay and their clients to see what might be.

As a dissertation consultant, she helped countless doctoral candidates problem-solve and see the possibilities in their research. She cuts through headwinds with her flexible thinking and pragmatism.

When not petting her cats or eating Ben & Jerry’s, she’s taking very long walks and watching the steps pile up on her FitBit.
